When Joe Biden took the oath of office on January 20, 2021, Germany and the EU were eagerly waiting to revive transatlantic cooperation. This was and is particularly urgent in the area of the digital economy, where different approaches to digital taxes, competition policy, new technologies, and other issues deeply divide the partners. Although expectations for the new EU-U.S. Trade and Technology Council in this area are high, the question remains whether the EU and the United States can find common ground on the key digital policy issues of our time.
What is the nature of the transatlantic partnership? How reliable are the partners really? What is Germany’s role – in relation to the United States, but also within the EU?
We would like to discuss these and other questions with regard to digital policy together with our guests.
