A Sustainable Path Towards Urban Construction and City Planning“ with a keynote address by Hanna Steinmüller Member of the German Bundestag (Alliance 90/The Greens); Committee on Housing, Urban Development, Building and Local Government; followed by a panel discussion with Prof. Dr. Philipp Bouteiller Managing Partner, Artprojekt; Andreas Gebhard Founder and CEO, re:publica; Doris Kleilein Editorial Director, JOVIS; What kind of cities do we want to live in? Berlin, Los Angeles, Atlanta – cities are an integral part of political, economic, and social strategies. However, they will have to face a multitude of challenges in the coming decades. International climate commitments require cities to embark on a path to sustainability. At the same time, the unabated movement into cities with attractive social and economic structures continues and results in a continuous growth of urban services and infrastructure solutions. Will cities be up for the challenge? Bold answers will be required and the transatlantic partnership offers an ideal framework for cooperation. After all, cities are hubs for innovation and laboratories for sustainable solutions.
