On March 13, 2024, the European Parliament passed the Artificial Intelligence Act, establishing the world’s first comprehensive AI regulatory framework. This groundbreaking law aims to ensure AI safety and compliance with fundamental rights while promoting innovation across the EU. It categorizes AI technologies by risk levels, from „unacceptable“ to low, setting strict rules for higher-risk categories.
This long-anticipated legislation is expected to come into effect by May 2024, with phased implementation from 2025.
