Der Tagesspiegel organized for the first time his #WorldFoodConvention2018 with a glossy lineup of high-ranking speakers and interesting start-ups, including 2 Ministers from the actual German government, The World Food Programme, CIAT and the very impressive founder of EAT Foundation. Bayer (as main sponsor) was present in 2 panels and gave a key note.
By 2050 nine billion people will need to be nourished, in a preferably even, healthy and sustainable manner. The latter seems to be a mission impossible. The only conceivable solution to the food paradox of the 21st century is a radical change to the way we eat, produce food and govern global food systems.
The aim of the conference was to weigh the impact of consumer behaviour in developed countries on emerging and developing countries and to draw attention to sustainable management of natural resources and strategies to eradicate hunger, poverty and unequal distribution of opportunity.
500 decision makers from politics, industry, diplomacy, NGOs as well as science and academia discussed the most burning issues of global food production and distribution.
